Requesting Time to Train:
The employee contribution to the skills agenda
Friday 6 March 2009, London, 10:00am - 3:55pm

Government consultation on ‘the right to request time for training' closed in December and it is expected that the Bill will get a first reading in late January 2009. We need to remedy a situation where at least 33% of employers do not provide any sort of training for their employees and over 8 million employees receive no training at all.
As we move from the period of consultation to policy development and implementation, this NIACE conference will:
· pinpoint the factors required to make a success of the proposed legislation on ‘the right to request time to train' and further success factors for learning in the workplace
· help participants understand how the new ‘right to request time off for training' will impact on their day to day work, whether as an employer, HR manager, union learning rep, training broker or learning and training provider
· showcase excellent examples of learning in the workplace
· identify how ‘the right to request time to train' links with other initiatives e.g. the right to request flexible working, the new Adult Careers and Advancement Service and Train to Gain.
